BLACKSBURG – With the Fall 2023 season almost here for Virginia Tech Football, let's take a look at the tight end position group who are now under the leadership of newly appointed tight end Coach Stu Holt.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Nick Gallo returns for a fifth year at tight end following a season which saw him haul in 30 receptions for 256 yards, good for second on the team. Gallo started all 11 games in 2022 and will be depended upon by new tight ends coach Stu Holt.

Dae'Quan Wright will have an opportunity to take a sizable step forward this fall. Wright played in seven games as a freshman, recording 19 catches for 208 yards

OTHERS IN THE MIX
Benji Gosnell is coming off a torn ACL in his freshman season, but the 6-5, 237 pounder had a solid spring and should compete for playing time along with another redshirt freshman, Harrison Saint Germain.Gallery: (8-25-2023) FB: Tight End (fall camp) TE NOTES

  • Gallo was Tech's second leading receiver in 2022 with 30 receptions for 256 yards
  • Wright's 36-yard reception vs. North Carolina State was the longest by a tight end in 2022

POSITION OUTLOOK
Coach Stu Holt assumes the role of tight ends coach after coaching running backs last season. Holt should feel good about this group's pass catching ability and blocking potential.
