BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech's swimming & diving head coach, Sergio Lopez Miro, released the teams 2023-24 schedule on Thursday afternoon. The Hokies will host four dual meets and the Virginia Tech Invitational taking place at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
Beginning the season with an intrasquad competition and alumni meet, the maroon and orange teams will go head-to-head in the first Hokie Belt Challenge of the season at the Christianburg Aquatic Center from Sept. 15-16. The Hokies will open the 2023-24 competition season on the road against George Washington in Washignton, D.C. on Sept. 23. Two weeks later, the Hokies head to Columbia, S.C. on Oct. 7 to compete against South Carolina and Texas A&M.
In their first home dual meet of the season, Virginia Tech will host Duke on October 21. The following week, Lopez Miro's squad will travel to Columbus, Ohio to compete against the Ohio State Buckeyes from Oct. 27-28. Heading back to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, the maroon and orange teams will compete against one another in the second Hokie Belt Challenge of the season on Nov. 4.
The swimmers and divers will then split up, with the divers competing at the Tennessee Invite in Knoxville, Tenn. from Nov. 15-17 and the swimmers heading to Greensboro, N.C. from Nov. 16-18 for the NCST Invite. Closing out 2023, the swimmers head to the US Open from Nov. 29-Dec. 2, while the divers compete in Knoxville for the 2023 USA Diving Winter Nationals from Nov. 29-Dec. 6
To begin 2024, the Hokie divers head back to Knoxville for the Tennessee Invite from Jan. 3-5. Tech returns home for three consecutive dual meets with the first against Queens on Jan. 6. During the annual Smithfield Commonwealth Clash, the Hokies will host their in-state rival, the Virginia Cavaliers, on Jan. 13. Tech concludes their dual meet schedule at home versus Penn State and Princeton on Jan. 20. Two weeks later, the Hokies will host the Virginia Tech Invitational from Feb. 2-4.
Postseason begins with the men's and women's ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C. from Feb. 20-24. Qualified divers will compete at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships the next month from March 11-13 in Princeton, N.J.
The season concludes with the women traveling to Athens, GA from March 20-23 and the men traveling to Indianapolis, IN for the 2023 NCAA Championships.
