Rost tabbed as Hokies assistant coach

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's tennis head coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren announced the addition of assistant coach Tate Rost to the team's coaching staff on Friday.

Rost joins the Hokies with years of experience competing at the Division I level of college tennis. From 2017 to 2020, Rost competed as an ACC foe to Tech with Clemson. At the end of her tenure with the Tigers, she occupied the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles – capping off her career at Clemson as No. 70 in the final ITA singles poll.  The Centennial, Colo. native served as team captain for Clemson, along with holding positions on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Tiger Leadership Academy.

Following her three seasons at Clemson, Rost spent her final year of collegiate play at TCU.

Prior to stepping into her role in Blacksburg, Rost served as the tennis professional at Ole Port Racquet Club in Swansboro, N.C.

In conjunction with Rost assuming the role as seconday assistant coach, former volunteer assistant coach Omar El Allami will hold the primary assistant position.
