Tech men's soccer adds Byrd and Sullins ahead of 2023 season

BLACKSBURG – As the 2023 fall campaign approaches, Virginia Tech men's soccer announced the additions of Isaiah Byrd and Andy Sullins into the fold on Friday. Both players join the Hokies after time at the University of Virginia.

Byrd joins Virginia Tech following four seasons with Virginia, where he appeared in 31 games making 16 starts for the Hokies' ACC foe. The Gainesville, Va. native has three assists, including two in the 2020 season, in which he logged 90+ minutes in seven games. Prior to his collegiate career, Byrd was the leading scorer (19 goals, seven assists) for BRYC Elite, as the team progressed to the 2017-18 ECNL Nationals.

Sullins heads to Blacksburg following his freshman year at Virginia, having appeared in 11 matches while notching a goal against American. A product of the Atlanta United youth system, he has experience training with both Atlanta's MLS side and USL Championship team. Formerly the nation's No. 161 prospect per TopDrawerSoccer.com, Sullins led the Southeastern ECNL conference in goal scoring. 

The Hokies begin their preseason fixtures next week with an away match against Liberty on Monday before hosting Coastal Carolina on Saturday, August 19. For more information on the rest of Tech's additions to the squad, read here
