Hokies announce 2023 cross country schedule

BLACKSBURG – Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Cianelli and Head Cross Country and Distance Coach Eric Johannigmeier have announced Virginia Tech's competition schedule for the 2023 Fall cross country season.
 
Buford Meredith Cross Country Course will play host to the Hokies' three home meets, as the program opens the season on Sept. 1 with the Virginia Tech Invitational.  The Hokies will then compete two weeks later on Sept. 14 in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational.
 
Tech will make a pre-nationals trip to Charlottesville for the XC 23 Invitational on Oct. 14 for the first away meet of the season. Virginia will also host the NCAA Championships on Nov. 18.
 
The conference meet will be hosted by Florida State on Oct. 27 before the Hokies return to Blacksburg to compete at the Hokie Open on Nov. 3. 

Hokies will then travel to Spartansburg, S.C. the next weekend to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 10. Athletes and teams who qualify from the regional meet will head to Charlottesville, Va. for the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
 
The Hokies will look to continue their recent success in cross country. During the 2022 season, recent graduate Antonio Lopez Segura finished fifth at the NCAA Southeast Regionals earning himself a spot at the NCAA Championships.
