Mason Revis hired as an assistant coach

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head coach Sergio Lopez Miro announced Thursday that Mason Revis will be hired as an assistant coach for the swim and dive team. Lopez Miro continues to round out his staff after he elevated Albert Subirats to associate head coach last week.

Revis earned his title of assistant coach after spending the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant for the team.

"Excited to have Mason as our new assistant coach with our VT swimming and diving team," said Lopez Miro. "Mason brings a high level of energy daily to every practice and every competition besides his amazing passion for the sport and the Hokie family.  He has become an intrinsic part of our Hokies' development and success these past two years. I can't wait to see him evolve as a coach and person at the same time while he helps the team reach the top."

Mason is a highly-accomplished swimmer in his own right and is no stranger to the ACC, one of the fastest swimming conferences in the nation. As a 2019 graduate from NC State, Revis was a critical member of the NC State men's swim and dive team. During his time with the Wolfpack, Revis helped his team earn four top-four finishes at the NCAA Championships and contributed to four ACC Championship titles. He was also a two-time CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-American and a member of NC State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

"I want to thank Sergio Lopez Miro, Danny White, and the rest of the hiring committee for this amazing opportunity," said Revis. "It's an honor to be able to work with this world-class staff and the student-athletes here at Virginia Tech. There is something special going on in Blacksburg, and I plan to bring my undying passion, positive energy, and drive to succeed with me to the pool deck every day to contribute to that. Under the leadership of Whit Babcock, the Virginia Tech athletic department has proven that this is a place any student-athlete can have success and I know we have no plans to slow down. I am proud to be here and ready to get to work! Go Hokies!!"

Revis contributed to the Hokies' historic 2022-23 season. The men's team earned the program's first NCAA Champion while making their highest finish in program history. On top of their record-breaking season, the Hokies will also have multiple swimmers represented at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka and the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2024.
