GENEVA, OH – Virginia Tech wrestling will be well-represented at the USA Wrestling U23 Nationals, sending Cooper Flynn and Sam Fisher for the chance to represent the US at the U23 World Championships set for October 23-29 in Tampere, Finland. The duo will take the mat on Saturday, June 3 through Sunday, June 4 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio with live streaming available on Flowrestling with a premium subscription.

Coming off a fifth-place finish in his senior-level debut at the US Open, Cooper Flynn will take the mat at 57-kilograms looking to make his first career world team. The redshirt freshman Hokie looks to navigate through a loaded field in Geneva with 56 competitors currently registered in the bracket. Flynn did earn an Olympic redshirt option for the 2023-2024 collegiate season via his placement at the 2023 US Open.
Sam Fisher will look to improve upon a red-hot freestyle season from last summer that saw him rack up Junior US Open champion, Junior World Team runner-up, Junior Pan-American champion accolades. Fisher will also make his first world team and make his second-straight national team appearance for USA Wrestling. Fisher will take the field of 80 entries at 86-kilograms.
