BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's tennis head coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren announced the signings of Laima Frosch and Samantha Tepes on Wednesday, ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Frosch, a five-star recruit per TennisRecruiting.net, joins the Hokies as an accomplished player from the Commonwealth. Currently ranked No. 13 in the Mid-Atlantic section of the USTA's Combined National Standings, she stands at No. 42 nationally and No. 3 in Virginia on Babolat's recruiting list.
In 2022, Frosch claimed the USTA Winter Nationals title in singles. Just two years prior, she earned the singles and doubles championship at the 2020 American Clay Court Nationals.
"I chose Virginia Tech because I immediately realized that the spirit is like no other," Frosch said on her decision. "It's the best place for me to develop as a player and as a person. The coaches and players are supporting and caring, the campus is beautiful, and the school prioritizes students' well-being. Virginia Tech is truly the place where I feel at home."
Samantha Tepes

Tepes joins the Hokies after finishing her high school career with a 91-11 record. In 2022, she was named 2022 South Jersey Player of the Year. Along with being names All-New Jersey State singles in 2022-23, Tepes earned All-South Jersey recognition in all four years of play.
"It's been my dream ever since I was a little girl to be a part of the Virginia Tech tennis team, Tepes said on joining the Hokies. "On my visit, the girls and coaches were all so friendly and welcoming, so I felt connected with the team right away. The energy and family feel of Hokie Nation is unbeatable, I couldn't see myself playing anywhere else!"
