LAST TIME OUT
The Hokies took 2-of-3 against No. 6 Clemson this past weekend to win the ACC series for the second straight season over the Tigers. Tech earned a 5-4 walk-off win in the first game, followed by a 3-1 win in game two to clinch the series. The Hokies fell 5-4 in game three. Cameron Fagan was the hero in the game one win, hitting the walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to take the win. To clinch the series, the Hokies capitalized on a squeeze bunt and two RBI singles to tally their three runs. Lyndsey Grein threw all seven for the Hokies, striking out five and allowing just six hits against the Tigers. Tech fell 5-4 in game three, as Rachel Castine hit her second home run of the year to lead the Hokie offense.
COMEBACK KIDS
The Hokies completed their second comeback win over a top-25 team this past weekend, scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the 5-4 win over No. 6 Clemson. Cameron Fagan's three-run home run was the first walk-off home run for the Hokies this season coming from behind. Earlier this year, Tech came back from down 5-2 in the top of the seventh against No. 9/13 Texas, getting a two-run home run off the bat of Kelsey Bennett and a solo shot from Emma Jackson to tie the game up at 5-5. The Hokies would win that game 6-5 in eight innings, as Cameron Fagan had the game-winning RBI.
GUTSY WIN
Lyndsey Grein earned her first top-25 win in the circle over the weekend, throwing a complete game in the game two victory over No. 6 Clemson to clinch the series. She gave up only one run and six hits against the Tigers in the win. She struck out five on the day and held the Tigers to only two extra base hits. On the weekend, the freshman had 10 strikeouts in her 10 innings pitched.
