Six Hokies earn NFCA All-Region honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Six Hokies have received Division I All-Region Honors, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday afternoon. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2023 NFCA Division I All-America squads. 
 
Emma Lemley and Emma Ritter were named First Team Mid-Atlantic Region, while Cameron Fagan, Bre Peck and Kelsey Brown represent on the Second Team. Jayme Bailey also earned Third Team Mid-Atlantic Region.
 
This is the second straight First Team honor for both Lemley and Ritter, earning the award in 2022 as well. Leading the team with 268 strikeouts, Lemley ranks first in the ACC and third nationally in total strikeouts. She also leads the conference in strikeouts per seven innings. The sophomore is 20-10 in the circle this season with a .240 batting average against.
 
Offensively, Ritter is ranked first in the ACC and second nationally as the toughest to strikeout. She has struck out only four times in 173 at bats this season, posting a .358 batting average with 10 doubles, two triples and 12 home runs, adding a .647 slugging percentage.
 
Brown and Peck represent the Virginia Tech outfielders on the Second Team. Brown leads the Hokies in batting average with a .409, tallying 38 hits and scoring 22 runs. She has also only struck out six times in 93 at bats and is 17-for-17 in stolen bases.
 
Peck is the Hokie home run leader, hitting 16 so far this season. She has a .319 batting average with 12 doubles (a team-high) as well as two triples and 42 RBI. Peck leads the team with a .764 slugging percentage and has scored 40 runs.
 
At second base, Fagan has 73 put outs on the year with 77 assists. She adds a .333 batting average, recording 56 hits, including six doubles and 11 home runs. Fagan is one of the team leaders in on base percentage with a .420 and has five stolen bases on the year.
 
On the Third Team, Bailey has not made an error at first base all season, recording 274 putouts. She also has a .329 batting average with four doubles, two triples and 12 home runs. Bailey has a .602 slugging percentage with 53 hits and 36 runs scored, adding four stolen bases.
