BLACKSBURG, Va. – The No. 23/22 Virginia Tech softball team will make its fourth straight NCAA postseason appearance, earning a No. 2 seed in the Athens Regional. The Hokies (37-18) will begin the 2023 NCAA Softball Championship on Friday, May 19 against Boston University (51-8) in Athens, Ga. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on ACC Network.
Georgia will take on North Carolina Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
HOKIES VS. TOURNAMENT FIELD
The double-elimination regional will conclude on Sunday, May 21 and the winner of the 2023 NCAA Athens Regional will match up with the winner of the Tallahassee Regional in the NCAA Super Regional round on May 26-28. The winner of the Super Regional round will advance to the Women's College World Series, taking place in Oklahoma City from June 1-9.
This marks the fourth consecutive season the Hokies have reached the regional round. Tech has also advanced to back-to-back NCAA Super Regionals in 2021 and 2022.
