Following its ninth practice of the spring, Virginia Tech football met with the media outside at Steve Johnson Practice Fields and conducted a press conference on Tuesday.

Read below for some highlights of what was said.

Head coach Brent Pry

On spring ball compared to fall camp:

"We've talked a lot about that, in terms of spring ball. The guys know that there is competition, communication, fundamentals – all the things that we have to do well. Each player is hearing from his [position] coach strengths and weaknesses and where we got to improve. If we get enough guys moving the needle, we get better as a team. To me, that's what you got to do in the spring."

Safeties coach Pierson Prioleau

On the emotions of a team and how a team can control that:
"I know that the great teams that I've been a part of have a great ability to play with that same intensity and competitive attitude, the same emotions, and not let it get the best of them. You can't allow it to get any further than that. I like our team's energy. We're doing healthy competition here and I think that's great. We're fighting for the same things and have the same VT on our helmets."

Defensive tackle Mario Kendricks

On being fully healthy for spring ball and the benefits from that:
"I like this [spring] season a lot, like you said. I've been able to get a spring in. I feel like it's helped me work on my skills more and get those extra reps that I didn't get last year, which will help me play better moving forward into the season."

Safety Jalen Stroman

On how this spring has been for him and what's been better for him recently:

"It's been fun. It's been a journey, for real. I've liked it, with growing up [in this program] and knowing that I'm going to have to be a leader and step up and help out this defense. Then it's come a lot easier, with just learning behind Chamarri [Conner] and Nasir [Peoples]."
