Elizabeth Kitley and Cayla King announce decision to return for fifth year

BLACKSBURG – Seniors Elizabeth Kitley and Cayla King announced that they will both return to Virginia Tech and take advantage of their fifth year of eligibility granted by the NCAA to athletes whose careers were affected by COVID-19.

Kitley, the two-time ACC Player of the Year, had another banner year where she earned Second Team All-America honors and was on the Seattle 3 Region All-Tournament Team. The program's all-time leader in points, field goals, blocks and double-doubles, Kitley was one of three athletes in the nation to average 18 points and 10.5 rebounds this season.

King, one of the best 3-point shooters in program history, finished her senior year with 225 made, the fourth-highest total for any woman to wear maroon and orange. She started every game this season and contributed 8.3 points per game and 3.3 rebounds.

The Greensboro girls (teammates at Northwest Guilford High where they won two state titles), Kitley and King have played in 116 games together at VT going 83-33. In ACC play, their class is 46-24, which includes an impressive 27-9 mark at Cassell Coliseum.

Season tickets are on sale now for the Hokies' 2023-24 campaign starting at just $80 for adults and $35 for youth. Season tickets come with priority access to postseason events, including any NCAA Tournament games played in Blacksburg. Both of Virginia Tech's home tournament games this year sold out quickly, meaning a season ticket package is the best way to access seats for similar events in the future.

Fans can also order NIL apparel featuring Kitley and other select Tech student-athletes through the HokieSports Shop.
