KANSAS CITY – Virginia Tech football's Chamarri Conner was selected in the fourth round at No. 119 overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday, marking the first Hokie off the board.
Conner is the first Tech player taken by the Chiefs since 2016, when Kansas City selected defensive end Dadi Nicolas in the sixth round. He also is Tech's 30th defensive back taken since 1997.
With Conner's selection, it now gives the Hokies one draft pick in 29 of the last 30 NFL drafts.
A decorated five-year defensive back for the Hokies, Conner racked up 314 tackles, 21 TFLs, 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and four interceptions in his storied career. He was a two-time All-ACC selection and finished 10th all-time in career tackles in school history.
The Chiefs are coming off a 17-3 season last year, winning Super Bowl LVII.
Conner joins Kansas State's Felix Anudike-Uzomah (defensive lineman, No. 31 overall), SMU's Rashee Rice (wide receiver, No. 55) and Oklahoma's Wanya Morris (offensive lineman, No. 92) in Kansas City's draft class.
