LAST TIME OUT

The Hokies fell to Marshall 2-1 Tuesday afternoon. A two-run home run would be the difference-maker to lead the Thundering Herd over the Hokies. Emma Lemley (19-10) went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on five hits and walking one for Virginia Tech (33-16). She struck out nine over her six innings over work. Freshman Kylie Aldridge led the way offensively for the Hokies, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. A two-run home run from Autumn Owens in the first inning gave Marshall the lead and ultimately the win, although the Hokie outhit Marshall at a 6-5 clip.

TOTAL BASES LEADER

Jayme Bailey is now tied for the lead in career total bases with 408 over her five-year career. She is tied with Megan Evans (2002-05) and is set to break that record this weekend with one more base. Kelsey Bennett isn't far behind Bailey, recording 400 total bases over her five-year career as well. The two seniors should end their Hokie careers in the top two of total bases in Virginia Tech softball history.

UP NEXT

The Hokies will play their final midweek of the season at Liberty next week, taking on the Flames at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Lynchburg.
