BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech will enter the 2023 ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship, presented by Ally, as the No. 7 seed with a first-round matchup against No. 10 seed Pitt slated for noon on Sunday at Thompson Field.

Tickets for adults over 18 are on sale now for just $10. Students with an ACC school ID and youth 18 and under can get in for free.

The Hokies wrapped up their regular season at a 9-8 mark in a slate that included eight ranked matchups.

Postseason play comes to Blacksburg for only the third time since the Hokies joined the ACC before the 2005 season. In 2009 and 2016, Virginia Tech hosted the ACC Championships.

Virginia Tech is led offensive by sophomore Olivia Vergano, who has 45 goals and 12 assists this season. Vergano is complemented by freshman Ella Rishko, who was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season following a seven-goal performance against Louisville.

Another freshman, Jocelyn Torres, earned player of the week recognition from the ACC after her showing in cage against No. 20 Duke. Torres has accrued high praise around the nation for her performance as goalie in her first season, which included holding then-No. 1 North Carolina to its conference low in goals (10). When faced up against No. 12 James Madison the second game of her career, the Glenwood, Md. native held the Dukes to their season low in goals.

Doing the dirty work around the talented freshman class is a veteran-filled defense that features two graduate students, a senior and two juniors. Between Lizzie Lohrer, Jordan Tilley, Mary Griffin, Sydeny Golini and Kacie Hanson, there are 239 combined starts.

In her second year at the helm, Kristen Skiera guided the Hokies to an improved ACC win total with three wins in conference play. Tech's campaign was highlighted by a 14-13 win on the road against No. 20 Duke in triple overtime.
