AUGUSTA, Ga. — Daniel Azallion carded a 3-under 213 to tie for 16th and Virginia Tech placed 10th as play concluded Sunday at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.
The senior led Tech with 12 birdies over his 54 holes, logging rounds of 74, 68 and 71. The Hokies put together a 16-over 880 (301-288-291) as a team.
No. 12 Florida lit up the par 72, 7,086-yard layout for a 39-under 825 (276-274-275) to win the team title. No. 6 Illinois took runner-up honors at 27-under 837 (280-275-282), three shots ahead of No. 22 Virginia.
Fred Biondi fueled the Gator charge by signing for a 15-under 201 (66-70-65) to top the individual leaderboard. With his win, Biondi earns an exemption into the PGA Tour's 2023 3M Open. Illinois' Adrien Dumont de Chassart finished two strokes behind at 13-under 203.
