The Hokies are back at Tech Softball Park for another weekend series, this time against a top team in the country in No. 5 Florida State. Check out why you should make it down to the park this weekend for this highly anticipated contest.
Revisiting a storied rivalry
The Hokies and Seminoles battle it out again, revisiting a series that started back in 2005. Tech currently trails in the series 20-32, but in the last 10 matchups, the series is split 4-6 in Florida State's favor. The last time the two met was in Tallahassee last year, where the Hokies walked out with the series win.
Giveaways galore
Be sure to attend every game as each one has a different giveaway for early-attending fans! On Thursday, guests can pick up a free Virginia Tech scrunchie while supplies last. On Friday, early-arriving fans can receive an exclusive orange t-shirt at the promotions table while they last! Sizes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For Saturday's game, make sure to stay until the conclusion of the game so you can pick up a free white Virginia Tech Softball t-shirt. Be sure to wear it for the Hokies' game on Friday, April 28 vs. Clemson!

The first game of the series is Throwback Thursday, fans can enjoy music, contests, trivia, and more from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Make sure to wear orange to Friday's game, as it's an Orange Out. Then the series finale is Student Appreciation Day, students can show their Hokie P at the promotions table and pick up a free slice of PK's Pizza. We're also choosing students only for all contests throughout the game!
Pitching clinic
If you're a fan of pitching, look no further, as both teams are loaded from head to toe. For Tech, the Hokies are equipped with their trio of Emma Lemley, Lyndsey Grein and Molly Jacobson. The star of the show is Lemley, who already has an impressive resume in just her second season. The Forest, Virginia native boasts 229 strikeouts, ranking first in the ACC, and has already won ACC Pitcher of the Week three times this season. For Florida State, the Seminoles have a four-headed beast of Makenna Reid, Kathryn Sandercock, Ali Dubois and Allison Royalty. So far this season, the staff has a combined 1.58 ERA.
Offensive powerhouses
On the other side of the ball, both teams have dangerous position players up and down the lineup. Tech has a lineup with the likes of Emma Ritter, who leads the team with a 1.172 OPS, and Kelsey Brown, who earned ACC Co-Player of the Week two weeks ago. Florida State also has batters that can flip a game on its head when they get on base. Jahni Kerr, Kaley Mudge and Devyn Flaherty have combined for 50 stolen base attempts and have only been caught stealing twice so far this season.
