GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech softball's Kelsey Brown has been named the Co-ACC Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. The senior earns the award for the first time in her career after leading the Hokies at the plate last week.
Brown led the Hokies offensively over the five games played, hitting .700 as the leadoff hitter with 14 hits in 20 at bats. She also added two doubles, an RBI and nine runs scored with an .800 slugging percentage.
In the game two win over Longwood, Brown went 2-for-3 with a stolen base. She followed that up with a great series against Virginia as the leadoff batter, recording 10 hits and scoring four runs. Brown also had two doubles against the Cavaliers, including an RBI double in the 7-0 win in game three. She added three stolen bases on the week as well.
The outfielder led the Hokies in hits in games one and two against Virginia, as well as stolen bases. She is also leading the team with a .476 batting average this season and is a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen bases.
