BLACKSBURG – After gutting out a thrilling win on the opening night of the ACC Tournament, Virginia Tech moves on to a second-round contest with sixth-seeded NC State on Wednesday. Dave O'Brien and Jay Bilas, along with Holly Rowe, will be on the call at 9:30 p.m. for ESPN2, while Zach Mackey and Mike Burnop will provide coverage for the Virginia Tech Sports Network.

SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
- NC State fell to Duke, 71-67, in its last regular season game on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
- In the Wolfpack's last six games, graduate guard Jarkel Joiner averaged 23.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, including a 26-point performance to close out the season against Duke.
- NC State's 22 regular-season wins are the most by a Wolfpack team since the 2012-13 season and its 12 ACC wins tie the program record that has been achieved four times, most recently in 1972-73.
The Series
- Despite winning four of the last six matchups, Tech trails NC State in the all-time series, 42-19.
- Without Hunter Cattoor in the lineup due to injury, NC State prevailed 73-69 in Blacksburg on Jan. 7 – this season's lone meeting between the two sides. Darius Maddox drilled a trio of 3-pointers to highlight a 13-4 Tech run over the final 55 seconds of the game.
- They split the season series in 2021-22, with each side winning on the road.
- Tech is 0-2 all-time against the Wolfpack in the ACC tournament. Their last meeting came in 2013 in Greensboro (80-63).
HOKIE HEADLINES
- Grant Basile has scored double figures in 16 straight games. He has broken the 20-point mark in seven of the last 13 contests. Over the last 13 games, Basile is averaging 20.6 ppg.
- Hunter Cattoor is first in the league in 3FG% at 43.3% (74-171). He's had at least three treys in six of his last seven games.
- Justyn Mutts notched his ninth double-double of the season against Notre Dame Tuesday night (18p/13r).
- Rodney Rice came up clutch with a 3-pointer at the 1:53 mark of the second half, which ignited a 9-2 surge by the Hokies to close the game vs. ND.
LAST NIGHT'S MATCHUP
- The Hokies escaped Mike Brey's final game at the helm of Notre Dame with a 67-64 triumph on Tuesday night. Justyn Mutts notched a double-double with 18 points and 13 boards.
- Tech used a 9-0 run to grow a comfortable lead in the first half that was as large as 12 points with 7:02 remaining in the half. However, Notre Dame responded with a run of its own and the Hokies went into the break with a 33-32 lead.
- Both sides exchanged blows in the second half, but the Fighting Irish held the lead for the greater portion of the second half.
- Trailing by four points with 2:08 in the game, the Hokies used a handful of gutsy buckets from Rodney Rice and Justyn Mutts, along with Sean Pedulla free throws, to piece together a 9-2 run and advance to the next round.
