BLACKSBURG – During the third week of spring ball for Virginia Tech football, director of broadcasting Zach Mackey interviewed tight end Nick Gallo after practice Tuesday to discuss how things are going so far.
Gallo, a fifth-year senior, returns to lead a strong position room, which features a new position coach in Stu Holt, who moved over from the running backs.
On how things are shaping up thus far during spring practice:
"It's going great so far. The team is really coming out to compete every single day and they're doing a good job."
On what he has seen so far at the tight end group and that progression from a year ago:
"With all of us coming back, I think we all feel a lot more comfortable with our scheme and that really allows us to focus in more on the details, execution and all of those base things. Because if we already know the scheme, we can fly off the ball."
On the transition from Tyler Bowen to Stu Holt as the tight end position coach:
"It's been great so far. Coach Holt is pushing us to be the very best every single day. I'm enjoying it."
Fans can see the Hokies next in action on Saturday, April 15 for Tech's spring game, presented by PMSI. More details on the game and what to expect will be released soon. Join the interest list and be the first to know when additional details are made available.
