The top-seeded Virginia Tech Hokies (29-4) will play the four seed Tennessee Lady Volunteers (25-11) on Saturday, March 25 in the Sweet 16 of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
The game will serve as a rematch, as the Hokies and Vols have met once already this season, a December 4 contest played on campus in Knoxville. Tech won that game 59-56 behind four Hokies in double figures, led by Kayana Traylor's 18.

The Hokies have reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in program history after defeating Chattanooga 58-33 and South Dakota State 72-60 at Cassell Coliseum in the opening weekend of the competition.
In Virginia Tech's last appearance in the Sweet 16 in 19999, the Hokies met the Volunteers in a game played in the Greensboro Coliseum. Tennessee won that contest 68-52. Current Lady Vols Head Coach Kellie Harper (Jolly) was a guard on the team.
The Hokies are on a 13-game winning streak the second-longest in the nation this season behind overall number one seed South Carolina's 34 game streak.
The winner of the matchup will meet the winner of the UConn and Ohio State contest which tips at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday.
