Chattanooga up next for No. 11/14 Hokies

BLACKSBURG – The No. 11/14 Virginia Tech softball will host Chattanooga this weekend, taking on the Mocs in a single game on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at Noon. All three games will be streamed on ACCNX.

LAST TIME OUT
 
The Hokies fell to Charlotte 3-2 Wednesday afternoon, marking the first home loss of the season. Emma Lemley threw the complete game, striking out 14 and walking one. Jayme Bailey had the team's two RBI, hitting a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to bring the Hokies within one.
 
BAILEY BOMBS
 
After hitting the two-run home run against Charlotte, Bailey now ranks second on the team in home runs with eight. She is hitting .361 on the year with 30 hits, including two doubles and one triple. She leads the team with 24 RBI and has registered a .699 slugging percentage. The infielder has also scored 20 runs.
 
WEEKEND EVENTS
 
Friday at Tech Softball Park is Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer. The Hokies will wear gold laces and helmet stickers in support of Go4theGoal and the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer initiative that strives to make a difference in the lives of kids battling cancer across the country. Saturday will be Military Appreciation Day and Lt. Col. Tom Beam will throw out the first pitch.

The Hokies continue their homestand next week, hosting Liberty on Tuesday, March 28 at 6 p.m., followed by a weekend ACC series with Duke from March 31 – April 2 in Blacksburg.
