Following its third practice of the spring, Virginia Tech football met with the media outside at Steve Johnson Practice Fields and conducted a press conference on Tuesday.
Read below for some highlights of what was said.
Cornerbacks coach Derek Jones
On how the first three days of spring ball been like:
"You know, it's been a good start. The energy level, the confidence, and, probably more than anything, the leadership. The players on the team, with just coming out and being examples and talking to the guys from the means of what to expect, as we try to become a winning football team."
Cornerback Dorian Strong
On playing along guys like Mansoor Delane and Derrick Canteen
"Oh, it's good because I know over there that they are good. They're two good corners. The quarterback can't say I'm not going to throw to him, because they're two good corners out there. Yeah, you can respect both of us, but you still have to try at the end of the day."
Cornerback Derrick Canteen
On what led him to transfer to Virginia Tech:
"It's everything on and off the field. The legacy and history of Virginia Tech. I grew up a college football fan. So, to be a part of a school with so much tradition and respect across the NCAA is something I couldn't turn down. I feel like I click with the coaches and everyone in that locker room. Everyone has that hunger in them and everyone wants to win now. Everything is trending up."
