ATLANTA -- Junior Emma Ritter collected four RBI to help power the No. 13 Virginia Tech Hokies past the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 7-4 on Saturday in game one of the doubleheader.

Ritter went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk in addition to her four RBI for the Hokies. Junior Cameron Fagan was also solid at the plate with a home run and two RBI. Senior Jayme Bailey also contributed for Virginia Tech, adding a double and an RBI.

Sophomore Emma Lemley (13-1) started in the circle and picked up the win for Virginia Tech (20-5, 6-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up four runs, allowing no walks and striking out six.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Virginia Tech got on the board thanks to Bailey's RBI double with two outs.

The Yellow Jackets failed to push any runs across before the Hokies offense scored again in the second inning. The Hokie offense put up four runs, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Fagan and a two-run double from Ritter, which brought the score to 5-0 in favor of the Hokies.

Georgia Tech narrowed Virginia Tech's lead to 5-2 before the Hokies stretched the advantage to 7-2 in the sixth inning. The Hokies drove two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Ritter that scored junior Addy Greene and sophomore Bre Peck. Georgia Tech put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over off of two home runs, but Virginia Tech held on for the 7-4 win.
