The Hokies struggled to find an answer for Kasey Choma, who scored a career-high eight goals in the game.
Notre Dame registered 42 shots in the game compared to Virginia Tech's nine.
The Fighting Irish used an early lead to keep Tech out of the contest, including an 8-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Virginia Tech will wrap up its road swing on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. against Akron.
