BACK AT BBTC
The Hokies return to Blacksburg, Va., after a tough road trip in which they lost both matches including a difficult 6-1 loss to Louisville. Tech hopes to replicate the success they had the last time they stepped foot at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center completing a dramatic 4-3 victory over Miami to pick up their first ACC win. Ryan Fishback sits at the top in terms of singles wins for the Hokies so far this season with an 8-6 record that includes a 3-3 record against nationally ranked opponents. The junior standout earned a straight-set victory over No. 60 Natan Rodrigues of Louisville, 6-4, 6-1, last weekend. Fishback alongside Jordan Chrysotom anchor Court 1 for the Hokies in doubles with a 5-3 mark and hold the No. 13 spot nationally.
BLUE DEVILS
Duke enters this weekend's matchup sitting at 10-4 after registering two top-40 wins over the weekend. Duke bested No. 20 Louisville, 4-2, on Friday before recording a 4-2 victory over No. 40 Notre Dame on Sunday. The Blue Devils have a 3-0 record in ACC play. Senior Garrett Johnssits as the No. 12 singles player nationally, while freshman Pedro Rodenas secured the No. 73 spot. Johns is 9-4 in dual play at Duke's top position, including a 5-3 mark over nationally ranked opponents. Rodenas is an impressive 13-1 in dual matches during his rookie season and has gone 2-2 against ranked foes. In doubles action, the senior duo of Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang claimed the No. 49 ranking in the country after beginning the year 5-2 in dual matches.
TAR HEELS
North Carolina boasts an 11-4 mark as well as a 3-0 conference record. UNC cruised to a 7-0 sweep in their last matchup facing Wofford this past Sunday. The Tar Heels register three ranked singles players in No. 22 Ryan Seggerman, No. 45 Brian Cernoch and No. 93 Karl Poling. Cernoch leads the Heels with a 9-3 overall record including 2-0 in the ACC. In doubles, North Carolina has three ranked pairings in No. 27 Cernoch/Seggerman, No. 32 Kania/Seggerman and No. 37 Cernoch/Kittay.
