Hokie ClubVirginia Tech women's basketball Head Coach Kenny Brooks has been named a 2023 Werner Ladder Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year Semifinalist the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday.
Brooks was initially placed on the Late Season Watch List in February and has been named a Semifinalist following the ACC Women's Basketball Tournament.
This season Brooks has led the Hokies to a 27-4 record and a No. 4 ranking in the AP Poll. In conference play, Tech won 14 games in the ACC for the first time ever, earning a double bye in the ACC Tournament. In the program's first appearance in the championship game, the Hokies defeated Louisville 75-67.
Tech has won 11 consecutive games heading into Selection Sunday on March 12 and will host first and second round action at Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies also won a program record six games against ranked opposition.
The other semifinalists are: Dawn Staley (South Carolina), Denise Dillon (Villanova), Joe Tartamella (St. John's), Kim Mulkey (LSU), Lisa Bluder (Iowa), Lynne Roberts (Utah), Niele Ivey (Notre Dame), Teri Moren (Indiana) and Vic Schaffer (Texas).
