Tech hosts a pair of in-state foes Saturday

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's tennis is set to host a doubleheader against a pair of commonwealth foes in Richmond and Radford on Saturday.

COMING OUT HOT
Through the first three matches of the season the Hokies are unscathed with a 3-0 mark that includes two 7-0 sweeps and a 16-1 singles record. Last Sunday, Tech completed their first doubleheader of the season with victories over ETSU and Davidson. Özlem Uslu continues to impress in her first season of collegiate tennis with a 3-0 singles record on court two. After dropping her first singles match of the season to ETSU's Laylo Bakhodirova, Dariya Radulova showed her tenacity in back and forth affair on court one against Davidson. The pride of Bulgaria dug an early 1-3 hole in the third set but never wavered, completing the sweep for Tech, 3-6, 6-4, 110-05.

ORANGE EFFECT
Both matches will be Orange Effect with fans encouraged to wear orange to the contests. There will be a giveaway of orange Virginia Tech mugs prior to the matches.

RICHMOND
The Spiders have sputtered out of the gate this season falling in all of their first six matches. In their last match, Richmond was defeated on the road against JMU, 6-1. Junior Carly Cohen picked up the lone win for the Spiders in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. 

RADFORD
The Highlanders will begin their 2022-23 campaign this Friday in Blacksburg when they take on Richmond at 6:30 p.m. Radford brings back an experienced group with four players that played more than 15 singles matches. Emily Brandow is back for her junior season after recording 13 singles victories in her 22 appearances last year.
