BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech guards Hunter Cattoor and Sean Pedulla were named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Cattoor and Pedulla are now eligible for Academic All-America honors. The three-team Academic All-Americans will be announced in mid-March. Tech has only had two Academic All-Americans in its program's history – most recently Stan Kerrick in 1969.

Now in his second semester of graduate school, Cattoor became the 50th Virginia Tech men's basketball player to score 1,000 career points against Miami on Feb. 21. The Orlando, Fla., native is one of the Hokies' all-time greats from beyond the arc. Cattoor ranks sixth all-time in 3-pointers made (237) and third in 3-point percentage (42.2). The senior is also an elite defender, consistently matching up against the opponent's best guard.

In his first season running point for the Hokies, Pedulla is averaging 15.4 points per game – second on the team and 14th in the ACC. He's led Tech in scoring 13 times this season, five times going for 20 or more points. The Edmond, Okla., native is second on the team in assists, recording 112 on the season. Pedulla reached double-figure scoring in each of his first 18 games of the season, becoming the first Hokie to do that since Erick Green scored double figures in all 32 games of the 2012-13 season.
