Brockwell ties season best to lead Tech at Watersound Invitational

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Drew Brockwell carded a 1-over 217 to tie for 31st at the Watersound Invitational following the completion of Tuesday's final round at Shark's Tooth Golf Course (par 72, 7,246 yards). The three-day, 54-hole event was co-hosted by Florida State and Alabama.

Brockwell fired a 1-over 217 for the second straight tournament. He also finished at 217 in the Battle at Briar's Creek to tie for 18th. The Richmond, Virginia native led the Hokies with 14 birdies over his 54 holes.

No. 1-ranked Vanderbilt edged No. 12 Georgia Tech for the team title. The Commodores tallied a 38-under 826 (279-273-274), while the Yellow Jackets posted a 37-under 827 (279-281-267). Tech finished at 27-over 891 (304-295-292) to place 10th.

Florida State's Frederik Kjettrup signed for an 18-under 198 to claim the individual title. Vandy's Gordon Sargent, the top-ranked college golfer according to Golfstat, and Georgia Tech's Christo Lamprecht tied for second at 13-under 203.

The Hokies are next in action at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by USC Aiken, March 6-7, at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.
