BLACKSBURG – Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore both recorded double-doubles to help lead the Virginia Tech women's basketball team past the NC State Wolfpack 75-62 at home Sunday.
The Hokies (22-4, 12-4 ACC) had four players score in double figures, led by Kitley, who put together a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Amoore added a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists and D'asia Gregg chipped in as well with 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
Virginia Tech utilized great ball movement in Sunday's game, piling up 19 assists on 31 made field goals. Amoore's 11 assists were the most for the Hokies.
Virginia Tech's defense held NC State (18-9, 8-8) to only 35.9 percent shooting from the field, including 29.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Hokies also limited Jakia Brown-Turner to 3-of-15 shooting and seven points in the game.

How It Happened
After playing to a 13-13 tie early in the game, Virginia Tech went on a 5-0 run with 2:21 left in the first quarter to take an 18-13 lead. The Hokies then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 19-18.
NC State kept adding to that lead, building a 25-21 advantage before Virginia Tech went on a 10-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Kitley, to take a 31-25 lead. The Hokies proceeded to tack on five points to that lead and enjoyed a 47-36 advantage heading into halftime. Virginia Tech saw non-starters score 10 of its 29 total points off the bench in the quarter.
Virginia Tech continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 12-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Kitley, to expand its lead further to 59-39 with 5:27 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Wolfpack had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Hokies still entered the fourth quarter with a 60-47 edge. Virginia Tech scored four fast break points in the quarter.
Virginia Tech kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by D'Asia Gregg's three, to grow the lead to 71-54 with 3:21 to go in the contest. The Wolfpack narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Hokies still cruised the rest of the way for the 75-62 win.
