BLACKSBURG – After splitting a pair of ACC road games, Virginia Tech returns home to Cassell Coliseum on Saturday evening to face one of the league's best clubs in Pitt. Wes Durham and Dan Bonner will be on the call at 5 p.m. for the ACC Network, while Zach Mackey and Mike Burnop will provide coverage for the Virginia Tech Sports Network.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS

  • Pitt is riding a six-game win streak, most recently defeating Boston College on Tuesday night.
  • On the road, the Panthers are 6-1 in conference play and 7-2 overall.
  • The Panthers are a threat from beyond arc, as they lead the ACC in 3-point field goals made per game (9.5). Blake Hinson (2.62) and Greg Elliott (2.42) both rank in the top 10 individually in each category.

The Series

  • Virginia Tech has an 11-8 edge in the all-time series against Pitt. 
  • The Hokies have won seven of the last eight matchups, including a season sweep in 2021-22. 
  • The first game of the series was played on Dec. 4, 1964 in Pittsburgh - a 74-69 win for the Panthers. 
  • Tech is 7-1 against Pitt at home and has won five straight inside Cassell Coliseum. 
  • The Hokies have an 8-3 advantage in the series since both sides have been in the ACC. 
  • The last six matchups between Tech and Pitt have come in February. 

HOKIE HEADLINES

  • Grant Basile has scored double figures in 10 straight games. He has broken the 20-point mark in five of the last seven contests. 
  • Over the last seven games, Basile is averaging 23.9 points per game. Basile is one of four ACC players averaging at least 18 points per game in conference play. 
  • Basile (seventh) and Sean Pedulla (14th) give the Hokies two of the top 14 scorers in the ACC. 
  • Hunter Cattoor is second in the league in 3FG% at 42.4% (56-132). 
  • Justyn Mutts finished with a game-high nine assists at Georgia Tech.
