The 11th-ranked Virginia Tech women's basketball team (20-4, 10-4) returns home to Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum for a matchup with No. 9 Duke (22-3, 12-2). The game is the second in the series this season, after the Blue Devils earned a 66-55 victory on their home floor on Jan. 26.
Last time on the court, VT earned the program's third ranked win of the season and second in consecutive games with an 84-70 victory over No. 19 FSU. In that game the Hokies scored 34 points in the first quarter, the most points that the program has ever scored in a single quarter of ACC play. The eight triples made in the opening frame were a program record. As a team, Tech was 8-11 from beyond the arc.
Junior point guard Georgia Amoore earned ACC Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. Amoore led the Hokies to two double digit victories over ranked foes this past week with consecutive 25-point performances for the first time in her career. She was also the USBWA's National Co-Player of the Week.
Wednesday afternoon the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced that Kenny Brooks had been included on the 2023 Werner Ladder Naismith Women's Coach of the year Late Season Watch List.
The Blue Devils have won four straight since a road loss to FSU on Jan. 29.
