BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team improved to 6-1 downing ECU, 4-0, in Blacksburg on Sunday afternoon.
Tech got of to a hot start with Tamara Barad Itzhaki and Semra Aksu producing a bagel on Court 3 followed by a dominant showing from Dariya Radulova and Katie Andreini in a 6-2 victory that earned the doubles point for the Hokies. Aksu and Barad Itzhaki are now 5-1 as a pair to start the season.
Charlotte Cartledge slotted in at Court 6 and put on a show, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 victory to give the Hokies a 2-0 lead. Dariya Radulova followed suit in a straight-set victory of her own, 6-4, 6-2, putting the Hokies in position to clinch the match. The clincher came on Court 4 with Semra Aksu continuing her impressive start to the spring season, winning 6-3, 6-2 to improve to 5-1 this season.
Tech is 6-1 for the first time since 2019-20.
