NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Virginia Tech men's track and field program has been ranked first in the Atlantic Coast Conference by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association. The women's track and field team is ranked second in the conference, and 11th in the Nation.
The women's pole vault squad is ranked first in the nation for a second consecutive week as Julia Fixsen, Kenna Stimmel, and Journey Gurley hold onto their top 10 spots in the event. Fixsen and Stimmel are tied for third in the NCAA at 14' 7.25" (4.45m), Gurley in ninth at 14' 2.5" (4.33m). Lindsey Bulter leads the Tech women in the 800-meters ranked seventh in the NCAA with a time of 2:03.13.
In the men's 60-meters, the Hokies are ranked fourth in the ACC with Cole Beck in sixth (6.64) and Ali Diaby in eighth (6.66).
The Hokies return to the track Feb. 10 - 11 competing at the Music City Challenge (throws), Tiger Paw Invite (sprints/jumps), and David Hemery Valentine Invitational (distance).
