Omar El Allami joins women's tennis staff

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women's tennis head coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren is pleased to announce the hiring of Omar "Mario" El Allami as volunteer assistant coach for the Hokies.

The Casablanca, Morocco native served as the co-founder and head coach for Advantage Tennis Academy Casablancas where he coached Malak El Allami who is currently ranked No. 76 in the women's ITF junior rankings. He also held the title of assistant head coach at club Olympique Casablancas for women's U12, U14 and U18 age groups. 

Prior to his time with Club S.O.C., Allami was the head coach at the Marrakech Sports Center for U14 during the 2015-16 campaign. Before getting into coaching, Allami worked as a tennis manager at Beslamine Sports Association. Additionally, Allami holds a level two certification from the International Tennis Federation and a coaching degree from the Morracan Institute for Executive Education.

Growing up in a tennis family, Allami competed as player where he found success as a junior but had his career cut short due to injury.

Allami graduated from the University of Hassan II with a degree in Economics & Project Management.
