BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech wraps up its three-game road slate on Saturday evening against No. 19 Clemson in the Hokies' first ACC rematch of the season. Doug Sherman (play-by-play), Cory Alexander (analyst) and Angel Gray (reporter) will be on the call for ESPN2 at 6 p.m., while Zach Mackey and Mike Burnop provide coverage for the Virginia Tech Sports Network.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

  • Since Tech met Clemson on Jan. 4 on a three-game hot streak, the Tigers are 4-1, including their 68-65 win in Cassell.
  • Clemson, which sits atop the ACC standings at 7-1, fell for the first time in league play on Tuesday to Wake Forest, 77-67.
  • As the Hokies found out in early January from his 13-point, 14-rebound performance, graduate student Hunter Tyson is Clemson's best weapon. Tyson, who was named to the USBWA's Oscar Robertson Trophy midseason watch list on Thursday, recorded his 10th double-double of the year in the Tigers' last outing.

The Series

  • The Hokies have a 23-18 advantage in the all-time series with Clemson after dropping the first meeting of this season, 68-65, on Jan. 4.
  • The two sides split the season series last year. Clemson defeated Tech, 63- 59, in Clemson. Four days later, they squared off in the second round of the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y. where Darius Maddox drilled a 3-pointer as time expired in overtime to propel the Hokies to the 76-75 win. 
  • Over the last 11 games in the Clemson series, Tech has posted an 8-3 record. 
  • Tech is 7-11 as the away team in the series. 
  • Saturday will mark the sixth time the Hokies will face Clemson when its ranked. VT has a 3-2 edge in those meetings. 
  • Mike Young earned his 300th career win as a head coach on Nov. 5, 2019 - a 67-60 victory at Clemson. 

HOKIE HEADLINES

  • Tech had five players in double figures for the first time since ODU (Nov. 17). Darius Maddox led the way at Virginia with 13 points. 
  • For the second straight game, the Hokies logged 19 assists (ties a season high). 
  • MJ Collins, who had eight points at UVA, hails from Clover, South Carolina – 111 miles from Clemson. 

3-BALL BACK IN BUSINESS

  • Tech dialed up 12 3-pointers against the Cavaliers – its third-best tally of the season and the most since a season-high 16 vs. William & Mary in the third game of the season. 
  • The Hokies connected on 12 of 27 (44.4%) from long range – their third-highest clip of the season. It was the fifth time this season Tech hit double-digit threes (4-1). VT posted an 11-1 ledger last season when hitting double-figure threes (lone loss was vs. Miami).
