The Virginia Tech women's basketball team earned a thrilling 68-65 victory over the 13th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels Sunday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum before a raucous crowd of 4,186. With the win, Tech stands at 12-2 on the season and 2-2 in league play ahead of a clash with rival Virginia at home on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.

Four Hokies were in double figures led by PG Georgia Amoore's career-high tying 24 including the crucial three free throws with 1.8 seconds to play that put the Hokies in front for good. She made six 3's in the game, a career-high.

Another Hokie had a massive impact off the bench in D'asia Gregg, who recorded her second career double-double in the game. She scored 11 points that included two 3's and making all three of her FT attempts. On the defensive end, Gregg made a huge block in the post in the final minute and tipped away the Tar Heels' inbound pass as the final second ticked away.
