Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG — For the fourth straight time, the Virginia Tech women's golf team has secured a spot in an NCAA regional, as announced via a selection show on the Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon. The Hokies, who earned an at-large berth, will be the No. 6 seed in the Ann Arbor Regional, which will be contested May 9-11.
Wednesday's selection marks the fourth NCAA regional appearance in the program's seven years of competition.
The Hokies will be the sixth seed in the 12-team field at the Ann Arbor Regional. The tournament will be played at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The top four teams and top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the 2022 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, to be held May 20-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Tech will be joined in the Ann Arbor field by fellow ACC members Virginia, the No. 2 seed at the site, and North Carolina. Tournament host Michigan is the No. 3 seed, followed by Arkansas, UCF and the Hokies. Ten ACC teams advanced to the NCAA regional round.
Ironically, Tech opened its 2021-22 campaign in Ann Arbor at the Wolverine Invitational. The Hokies finished third out of 16 teams behind rounds of 289, 286 and 293.
The Ann Arbor Regional will consist of 54 holes of stroke play, 18 holes each day. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament via Golfstat.
