Women's hoops moves to No. 7 in AP Poll

The undefeated Virginia Tech women's basketball program rose to number No. 7 in the AP Poll Monday afternoon the organization announced. The No. 7 ranking marks the highest ever ranking for the program.

Last week, the Hokies defeated Nebraska 85-54 at Cassell Coliseum in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and then won at Tennessee 59-56 Sunday afternoon in front of a raucous crowd at Thompson-Boling Arena.

In the Nebraska game, PG Georgia Amoore recorded the program's first triple-double with her 24 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. All three categories represented career highs.

Tech is ranked eighth in the NET, a product of their schedule and 4-0 record against Power Five opposition thus far.

The Hokies' defense ranks first in the nation allowing just 47.4 points per game.
