HIGH POINT, NC --Elizabeth Kitley, Taylor Soule and Kayana Traylor each notched at least 20 points to help lead the Virginia Tech women's basketball team past the High Point Panthers 86-66 on the road Wednesday.
Kitley led the Hokies (11-1) with 25 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four blocks. Soule tacked on 24 points, seven rebounds and two steals and Traylor chipped in as well with 22 points and seven assists.
Virginia Tech out-rebounded High Point 32-20 in Wednesday's game, led by Kitley's seven boards. The Hokies also collected 12 offensive rebounds and scored 10 second chance points.
Virginia Tech forced 17 High Point turnovers while committing only nine themselves in Wednesday's game. The Hokies turned those takeaways into 23 points on the offensive end of the floor. Soule's two steals led the way for Virginia Tech.

How It Happened
After falling behind 2-0, Virginia Tech went on a 7-0 run with 7:17 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Soule, to take a 7-2 lead. The Hokies then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 17-16 advantage. Virginia Tech did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 12 of its 17 points close to the basket.
The Hokies used the second period to increase their lead and entered halftime with a 42-32 edge. Virginia Tech dominated in the paint, scoring 18 of its 25 points close to the basket.
Following intermission, Virginia Tech continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 58-46 before going on a 10-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Soule, to expand its lead further to 68-46 with 11 seconds to go in the third, a score which remained until the end of the third quarter. Virginia Tech played well near the basket, scoring 16 of its 26 points in the paint.
Virginia Tech kept its lead intact before going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Soule's layup, to grow the lead to 80-55 with 4:16 to go in the contest. The Panthers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Hokies still cruised the rest of the way for the 86-66 win. Virginia Tech took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 18 points in the paint.
