Henson named ACC Wrestler of the Week

BLACKSBURG – The No. 8 Hokies wrestling team continues to stack on the accolades as freshman Caleb Henson was named ACC Wrestler of the Week for the second time this season, becoming the first Hokie true freshman to win the award twice in one season.

Ranked No. 12 in the country at 149-pounds, Henson was dominant over the weekend with a 19-3 tech fall over Lindenwood's Ben Nohr then following up with a masterclass of a match against 2021 All-American, Jaden Abas of Stanford, en route to a 11-1 major decision. The win marked the second victory over a past All-American for the Cartersville, Georgia native as he continues his stellar freshman campaign for the Hokies.

Henson improves to 12-2 on the season with the Hokies improving to 3-1 after a successful weekend in Palo Alto to close out the first half of the season.

The Hokies return to action on January 1-2 for the prestigious Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee then return to Blacksburg to host No. 12 Cornell in the Moss Arts Center on January 6 at 7 p.m. EST.
