BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech responded well to a quick start by a defensively-sound Grambling State squad and earned its fourth win of 25+ points this season on Saturday afternoon.

PLAYING WITH A LEAD
- The Hokies found themselves in an unfamiliar situation early on in Saturday's contest, as Grambling State led 23-13 in the first half. That was only the second time that Tech had trailed by double-digits this season (13, at College of Charleston).
- Grambling State, which posed an obvious defensive threat with the nation's 13th-best field goal defense entering the game, started the game well offensively - shooting 8-10 from the floor.
- Tech was able to regain its normal cushion courtesy of a 16-0 run later in the first half, which was supplemented by eight points from Sean Pedulla.
- Through 2400 minutes of play in 12 games, Tech has only trailed for 45:16 of the season. In three games (Lehigh, William & Mary and Penn State), the Hokies have not trailed.
SHARING IS CARING
- Tech recorded 19 assists, which is tied for the most by the Hokies in a game this season (William & Mary).
- The Hokies assisted on 73.1-percent of its baskets on Saturday night, which is a season best and the most since they assisted on 87-percent of their baskets against Syracuse on Feb. 12, 2022.
- Pedulla led Virginia Tech with six assists, marking his third game with 6+ assists this season. His overall stat line of 21 points, six assists and five boards was his first career game of 20+ points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists.
MEMORABLE YEAR
- Saturday's game was Virginia Tech's final home game of 2022. Tech posted a 14-3 record inside of Cassell Coliseum in the calendar year.
- The Hokies are 8-0 at home this season and riding a nine-game win streak in their home quarters dating back to last season.
