BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech appeared in The Associated Press men's college basketball poll for the first time this season on Monday, landing at No. 24.
The Hokies' emergence in the poll marks their first time in the AP rankings since the final poll of the 2020-21 season, in which Tech was No. 25. Virginia Tech received votes on six occasions last season.
Through 11 games, Virginia Tech is 10-1 with a top-25 victory (No. 18 North Carolina) on its resume. In addition to their impressive win against the Tar Heels, the Hokies have downed Penn State, Minnesota, Dayton and Oklahoma State, along with compiling a 7-0 home record.
Sophomore guard Sean Pedulla has led the Hokies in scoring (16.9 points per game) through their hot start, while veterans Justyn Mutts and Hunter Cattoor have been steady defensive pieces for Tech. Newcomer Grant Basile has proven to be a nuisance on both ends for opponents, averaging 14.6 points per game while accumulating 23 blocks this season, which is second best in the ACC.
Tech will be back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET inside Cassell Coliseum to take on Grambling State. Tickets start as low as $10.
