Aylward and Pearce sign with Virginia Tech volleyball

BLACKSBURG – Head coach Marci Byers and Virginia Tech volleyball welcome two signees to the 2023 class on Tuesday afternoon. Elizabeth Aylward and Hailey Pearce will join the Hokies next season.
 
"We are all very excited that Hailey and Elizabeth have decided to be a part of Hokie Nation! They both have had great high school and club careers and we are eager for them to make the transition into the ACC.  Both come to us as highly recruited pin players and will add depth to our roster," Byers said.
 
Elizabeth Aylward
Nashville, Tenn. / Harpeth Hall High School / Outside Hitter
 
A two-time AVCA Phenom, Elizabeth Aylward signs with the 2023 class. Aylward joins Tech after recording 1,000 career kills at Harpeth Hall, as well as earning a spot on the All-Region Team all four years of her career, and making the All-Tournament Team each year of her career. She helped her team to a 2019 District Championship and was also named the All-Region MVP as a junior and senior, while also serving as captain. As a member of the Alliance Volleyball Club, Aylward was named to the All-Tournament Team at Nationals. She was also named to the Class of 2023 Watchlist in 2020 and 2021.
 
Hailey Pearce
Charlotte, N.C. / Sun Valley High School / Outside Hitter
 
A four-year lettwerwinner from Sun Valley, Hailey Pearce will join the Hokies after a great high school career. During every season of her high school career, she was named All-Conference. Pearce also earned All-Region honors three seasons of her career. So far during her senior year, Pearce has recorded 374 kills in 102 sets played. She also has 27 blocks and 272 digs. Her career hitting percentage sits at .301 and she has over 1,000 kills over the course of her career, with 1,176 total. Pearce also played club with the Carolina Union.
