BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Justin Pollock will don the No. 25 jersey on Saturday against Georgia Tech, after he was told in a team meeting Thursday afternoon.

Pollock will wear the iconic number for the first time of his career, marking the sixth Hokie this season to rock it for the first time (Ny'Quee Hawkins, Peter Moore, Nasir Peoples, P.J. Prioleau, William Ross).

"I'm very honored to be chosen by Coach Pry and the staff to wear the 25 jersey this week," Pollack said "It's been a goal since I got here to wear number 25 and I can't wait to put it on against Georgia Tech. Go Hokies!"

Pollack, who is a redshirt junior on the team from Amelia County, Virginia, has played in all eight games this season.

Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
