Hokies ready to begin 2022-2023 campaign

BLACKSBURG – The No.11 Virginia Tech wrestling team will take the mat for their first dose of 2022-2023 action at the Southeast Open on Saturday, November 5 at Roanoke College in Salem to kick off the 2022-2023 season. Doors open at 9 a.m. and wrestling will begin at 10 a.m.

Key Wrestlers for Tech

  • Tech returns NCAA All-Americans Sam Latona, Bryce Andonian, Mekhi Lewis, and Hunter Bolen for the 2022-2023 season.
  • Returning NCAA qualifiers Collin Gerardi, Connor Brady, Drew Nicholson, Dakota Howard, and Hunter Catka will all be in action for the Hokies.
  • Bolen enters his last year of eligibility looking to become the Hokies' first five-time NCAA qualifier in program history.
  • Lewis, the first national champion and first two-time finalist, enters his senior season looking to become the 17th four-time NCAA qualifier in program history after placing second at last year's NCAA Championships.
  • A 2021 All- American, Latona, makes his way to 133-pounds after spending his first two seasons at 125-pounds. Andonian returns to the lineup at 157-pounds after placing third at 149-pounds last year.
