The undefeated Virginia Tech women's basketball program rose to number No. 9 in the AP Poll Monday afternoon the organization announced. The No. 9 ranking marks the second time in program history that the Hokies have cracked the top 10 and the first since February 22, 1999.

The Hokies own six wins, with an average margin of 37.0 points, the best in the ACC. Two times already Tech has won by greater than 50 points, including when they held USC Upstate to a program record 24 points. In their last outing, the Hokies held Longwood to just 28 points. Tech's defense ranks second nationally at 44.8 points allowed per game.

VT went 3-0 this past week, defeating two SEC squads at the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in addition to the 89-28 rout of Longwood on Sunday afternoon.

Tech's next outing is Thursday, December 1 vs. Nebraska in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

With a win, the Hokies would extend their six-game winning streak in the competition and Head Coach Kenny Brooks would become just the third ACC women's basketball coach to begin their tenure 6-0 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
