BLACKSBURG Caught in a tough contest for the fourth-consecutive game, the Hokies responded well and were able to pick up another home victory behind notable performances by Justyn Mutts and Lynn Kidd.

KIDD'S CAREER NIGHT

  • Kidd had a career-high 11 points in just over 14 minutes played off the bench. He cracked double digits with 1:22 remaining on the clock with a dunk assisted by Mutts to put the Hokies ahead, 66-64.
  • Perhaps more impactful than his points were his eight rebounds, which included five offensive boards. Though he didn't eclipse his career high in total rebounds (10), the five offensive rebounds were a career best.
  • Young continued to praise Kidd's work ethic after the game, stating, "I'm proud [of Lynn]. He's earned everything he is getting. Not a thing has been given to him."

MUTTS CONTINUES TO SHINE

  • For the second straight game, Mutts came one rebound shy of a double-double. The sixth-year senior led the Hokies in scoring, however, with a season-high 17 points.
  • Mutts is the only player in the ACC averaging 12+ points, 9+ rebounds and 4+ assists per game.

CLOSE GAME

  • The Hokies have been challenged early on this season and have come out victorious in three out of their last four contests which have been decided by five points or less.
  • While Tech has struggled shooting recently, in its last two wins the Hokies have been able to put the pieces together and finish the game making four of their last five shots.
